It's so nice to see the sun again! I love rainy days but several weeks worth is more than enough. Over the last few days the cats have spent every waking moment (and quite a few sleeping moments) on the porch enjoying the heat. They even like to be out there when it rains, provided it's not too windy. The wind seems to really scare Sugar. Thunder and lightening don't seem to ruffle any of them but let that wind get a little rowdy and Sugar is in the house.
I noticed the other day I have a nice little bear family starting. These mostly came from family and each one is so soft you could just cuddle it for hours. They all have a special function. The big purple bear is a "secrets" bear. He was given to me by a friend way back at the start of my illness, so I'd have someone to tell my secrets to. Since I don't really have any secrets, he's just a really cute, really big bear. The white one is a Huggy bear. You can flip a switch and he begs for hugs, the brown bear is a tickle bear, squeeze his foot and he laughs like a little kid. You have to laugh with him. The pink bear is a beannie baby awareness bear. I enjoy all my bears. I plan to make a barrington bear to go with them. I am NOT collecting teddy bears - but I really like the ones I have.
And here is what other family members are doing today. Sugar and Blue are in the office looking out their own private windows. The rocking chair between them belonged to one of my great grandmothers. When I was in my twenties, my grandmother surpised me with it. I was very close to my great grandmother and am thrilled to have one of her chairs.
I'm almost done with Eileen's scarf. My shoulders are still bothersome so I can't knit for extended periods of time but I'm already shopping my stash for yarn to make my brother and sister-in-law slippers.
If you've noticed, I've added another blog to my reads list. Why I put it under knitting is beyond me. It's called Home on Pine Creek and it's my youngest sister's blog. Her family is gutting my parent's house which was built in 1906 or earlier and will be modernizing it. This sister doesn't knit but the house-in-progress pics are interesting.
I went to my hair stylist on Wednesday to see if she could shape up my dryer lint locks. She gave me a really nice cut then added streaks of fushia- wow was it different! But not bad. I didn't feel compelled to come home and wash it out. In fact I added some burgandy and pink I have. Even Jim thought it looked okay!
